Hello again everyone! It's been ages since I've posted my previous post..
Anyways, the past few months were super busy (artistically speaking), for I have been working on a new mobile game, which is coming out very soon, with John Francis and his team. Most of my work was related to illustrating cutscenes for the game, as well as game elements here and there, but very minimal concept design I'm afraid; I joined the team a bit late to be able to do that.

Makkah painting update

Still working on the details....

There will be many light sources; the sky, indoor lights and outdoor lights. That's the main challenge in this painting.

New painting: Makkah

So finally I get to work on a new oil painting. The subject this time is kinda different than my usual comfort zone; buildings!
I chose the Grand Mosque in Makkah because of the unique architecture of that place, plus it will be a gift for a friend of mine ( I hope he doesn't read my blog! ).... Anyhow, these are some first WIP images of the small painting so far... enjoy and stay tuned!

Cloud and mood studies

This was a quick color sketch that I did just to capture a scene I've seen on my way home.

This second illustration was a mood study. I tried to emphasize the sunset time in a desert region.

What does my logo mean?

A lot of people wonder what my logo means. It's no secret if you are an expert in arabic name's meanings, combined with detective talents and strong shape recognition skills. Enough of that...
If you focus well, you will notice that the bird in my logo is actually a falcon, which happens to be my first name "Alhaitham". The J behind it stands for my last name Jassar. Surprise? I guess not.

Note: I am not a Falcons fan, or football in general.

A couple of old video tutorials of mine

I remember doing these time-lapse tutorials a while back. Although the techniques used are not the best in the world but I think they are still fun to watch.

As you can see I like to keep my layers window on the left and all the other tools on the right. Why? I have no idea... old habit I guess.

Welcome to my new blog!

Well well well, so it seems that after resisting the temptation of having my own blog for all these years I did surrender to it in the end. The main purpose of this blog is not just to write a lot of fluff, but to post a lot of sketches, unfinished projects, photographs, and personal projects and observations during my journey in the creative world.

As a start-off kick I present this latest digital painting which I've done for CG Society's challenge "Dreamscape". I think it's ok, don't you?
